The NCS Journey – Summer Programme

THE NCS JOURNEY – SUMMER PROGRAMME

The NCS journey is an exciting one. Below is the detailed breakdown of the different phases of the journey, so you know what your students will be doing and when.

Phase 1 Sign up and induction

Once they say yes to NCS and sign up they will be involved in taster days and meeting their team mates plus induction days closer to the date.

 Phase 2 Activity residential

An action packed 5-day residential away from home, with team building, problem solving, challenging outdoor activities and most importantly, fun!

 Phase 3 Community residential

A 5-day residential close to home,  where they’ll learn new skills and work with local businesses and organisations and really get to know their community, identify the challenges and start to form ideas for their social action project.

Phase 4 Social action planning and design

Working in consultation with the local community they start to design the social action project and start to address a problem identified in phase 3. This can be anything from raising the profile of a local campaign, to painting a community hall or creating a care home garden.

 Phase 5 Social action implementation

Over a period of 30 hours across a number of days they put their plans into action, have loads of fun, whilst making a real difference to people’s lives, their community and their future.

 Phase 6 Graduation

The chance to get dressed up and get together with everyone involved for a huge graduation party. They celebrate their achievements with parents, carers, teachers and other local dignitaries, alongside the press and other invited guests and pick up their certificate signed by the Prime Minister.

 Phase 7 The future

The end of the programme is not the end of NCS. Your students will become part of the NCS graduate association, giving them access to unique opportunities to stay involved, such as more volunteering, or becoming an ambassador, youth board member or mentor and sharing experiences with NCS graduates of the future.
