Can you help the Bourne District Girlguides?

Bourne District covers the area from Emsworth across to Fishbourne and all areas to the south; it also includes Walderton, Stoughton and the surrounding area.

In our District we have 1 Rainbow unit, 3 Brownies units, 2 Guide units and one Young Leader unit.

Our Rainbow unit meets on a Monday in Southbourne, we have Brownie units meeting on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in Southbourne, West Ashling and Bosham and our two Guide units, one in Southbourne and one in West Ashling, both meet on a Tuesday evening, as do our Young Leaders unit. All contact details can be found on the ‘useful numbers’ page of this magazine.

The Rainbows, Brownies and Guides love going ‘out and about’ within their community, and also love trying out new ideas and learning about new things .

If you are a farmer who would like to show our girls how important your work is to the environment, or a food producer who would like to increase our girls awareness of the food they eat, or are an artist or a sculptor or a vet or a paramedic or a fireman or anyone who has a skill, passion or expertise in any field that you would enjoy sharing with our girls, we would love to hear from you our Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Young Leaders would love to visit you or have you visit us, so please get in touch with me.

All of our Guide Leaders, Guide Assistants, Pack Leaders and Commissioners are dedicated volunteers and together we work towards increasing our girls; awareness, confidence, team work and consideration towards others.

Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Young Leaders enjoy experiencing a variety of activities, this year the Brownies have been celebrating their 100th Birthday and all of the Bourne Brownies have been given the opportunity of joining in on a mega sleepover, a fun packed action day at Brinsbury College and a lovely day trip on the Watercress railway.

The Guides take part in camping trips and sleepovers, they also love getting involved in Community projects, the Guides make many of their own decisions as to what activities they would like to do during their weekly meetings. The Guides are also able to take part in World wide events and also attend International camps.

The Brownies have very varied programs throughout the year, and our three packs frequently get together for annual craft weekends and sleepovers and for fun trips out to Paultons Park and the like.

The Rainbows just like to have fun, whilst learning and our Young Leaders make their own decisions with just limited supervision, and they are also able to take part in World wide events, such as volunteering work in some of our poorer countries or joining in on International camps.

Girl Guiding is all about learning, having fun, making new friends and hopefully gaining new skills and experiences, so we would love to hear from you if you are able to help in any way or if you have daughters who would like to join a Rainbow, Brownie , Guide or Young Leaders unit.

I look forward to hearing from you.
