Update: Campaign to Help Save The Emsworth Victoria Cottage Hospital site for the Community.

An update from the Emsworth Forum

Emsworth Victoria Hospital Site

The Emsworth Victoria Cottage Hospital site was suddenly put up for sale on July 25th by NHS Property Services. We believe the hospital site should be used by the community rather than being sold off, in haste to the highest bidder. The #EmsworthUnited campaign has been launched by the Emsworth Forum, Emsworth Business Association, Emsworth Community Association, Emsworth Residents Association, and the Friends of Emsworth Community Health. We support the redevelopment of the hospital site by the new Emsworth Community Land Trust (Emsworth CLT) following full consultation with the local community.

Please join our campaign and attend our first public meeting on Wednesday 22nd August at 6:30 PM at the Baptist Church to find out what is happening, why, and how you can help us save the site for the Emsworth Community.

How you can help:

  • Write to our MP Alan Mak: alan.mak.mp@parliament.uk or 10 South Street, Havant, PO10 1BU
  • Write to the owners of the Hospital, NHS Property Services: customer.service@property.nhs.uk or call 0800 085 3015

  • Draft Emsworth Neighbourhood Plan Update

As you know the public consultation on the Draft Emsworth Plan took place at the end of last year. We had a very positive response and are grateful to those of you who spent a great deal of time to give us feedback. We are also very grateful to the army of volunteers and the Forum Management Committee for making the consultation happen.

Since then, we have been going through over 1000 separate comments we received from residents and the various organisations that responded. It has taken us much longer than we thought as some of the issues are complex, but we are making progress. The Forum Committee are working closely with our consultants and Havant Borough Council’s Planning Team to produce the revised Draft Neighbourhood Plan and a Consultation Statement that will be accepted by a Planning Inspector at a future Public Examination. We are also required to produce a technical document called a Basic Conditions Statement which describes how we have complied with neighbourhood planning regulation in producing the Emsworth Plan. It is important to get these documents right first time and this may take us some time. We hope to complete this task by the end of the summer. We will keep you posted!

Help Needed!

All the Emsworth Forum’s work is managed by a brilliant team of local volunteers with donations of time and resources from local businesses and residents. We are very grateful for all their generous support. We only pay for goods and services that we cannot source for free.

In order to complete the Neighbourhood Plan, however, we will need to more funds and volunteers to help.

If you would like to help us please contact our Chair Stephanie Elsy at stephanie@stephelsy.net or on 01243 379973.

If you can give us a donation please give as generously as you can by sending a cheque to Jan Morgan, Treasurer, Emsworth Forum, c/o Emsworth Community Association, North Street, Emsworth PO10 7DD. Or you can make a direct credit to our bank account: sort code 77-25- 11, a/c no 32274260
