Match Report – Salthill CC v Bursledon CC

26th of July
Salthill welcomed Bursledon on an extremely hot Saturday afternoon. They lost the toss and Skipper Court elected Salthill to bowl. After the second ball it looked like a good decision as the Bursledon opener knicked an inside edge, from Court, onto middle stump. There was plenty of strong hitting in the Bursledon line up, but Salthill were taking regular wickets with Heather, Johnson, King and both Holders all taking wickets. Burseldons opportunistic batting strategy was working though as they forced the score to 166 all out.
Similarly to the first innings a wicket with the second ball, Holder driving one that sat up and an easy catch at mid off. Salthill were struggling to cope with the directness of the opening bowlers and soon most of the top order had fallen for cheap runs. However Bishop remained and played freely for his 40, but he had no support and Salthill were eventually all out for 100. Bursledon continue strongly in the league and Salthill will look to put in a stronger batting performance next week.
