Talk ‘The Sussex Air Ambulance’

Speaker – Mr. Mike Charman.

at the Chichester Park Hotel, Chichester. PO19 7QL,

on Monday 19th May  2014 – 8.30pm start. (Short AGM @ 7.30pm).

The Sussex Air Ambulance is now part of the Surrey, Sussex & Kent Air Ambulance

Trust, and this talk is all about this, explaining how they operate.

The SSKAAT is a charity which provided a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service, for the benefit of the community, responding to serious trauma & other medical emergencies.

Their medical crew consists of a specialist doctor and a critical care paramedic. The care and treatment they can provide at the scene of an incident is often crucial to the quality of recovery a patient will make later on in hospital. They can take to the scene the expertise and equipment that would normally only be found in the resuscitation area of a hospital emergency department. When necessary, their highly skilled medics have the ability to resuscitate, provide emergency anaesthesia, and carry out advanced medical procedures at the incident site.  Effectively, they bring the A & E department to the patient, quite often in areas that  ambulances cannot get to.

The Air Ambulance Helicopter service operates across Kent, Surrey and Sussex 7 days a week, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, and responds to an average of 4-6 emergency calls daily.

Whether you are an air enthusiast or not, this will be an interesting talk.

Entrance for members is £3, guests £5 and under 16’s FREE.
