A Busy Weekend For Salthill CC

On a warm summers day, Salthill travelled to Emsworth looking to continue there run of 6 wins in a row. Skipper Court won the toss and decided to bat first. Salthill made a promising start before loosing S. Richardson for 5. L.Dawtrey 58 and A.Court 39 put together a good partnership before both falling in quick succession leaving the score on 133. Some steady batting from the Middle order got Salthill to 195-7. Emsworth made a slow start in reply loosing opener R.Windebank for 4. Emsworth were unfazed and steadily chipped away at the total! D.Wells 2-25 kept salthill just in the game with a tight spell and some good fielding from P.Elsbury left Emsworth on 186-6 with 3 overs left! L.Dawtrey took a double wicket maiden with the help of a worldie of a catch from R.Fisk! Skipper Court took the final 2 wickets in 3 balls to leave Emsworth all out 3 short of the victory total! A stunning comeback from Salthill make it 7 wins in a row and all but secure promotion! Salthill welcome Hayling Island for the final game of the season and hope to finish in style!!
Salthill cc held their much anticipated, 3rd open day on Sunday August the 16th at the Fishbourne centre…The open day was raising funds jointly for the cancer charity, St Wilfrids Hospice and Salthill cc
The weather was kind allowing the village cricket match, Salthill cc vs Fishbourne Batters to take place..The match was played in a very entertaining spirit of which the crowd of 200 plus people enjoyed thoroughly, many people bringing and setting up picnics and just enjoying the atmosphere..Salthill were the narrow winners, the real winners though were the good causes mentioned.
Following the barbeque the much anticipated huge draw took place where many excellent prizes, donated by so many businesses were raffled off to lucky winners.
Organizer of the open day, Andy Beal said he would like to thank all the people who donated all the wonderful prizes which helped to raise  monies in excess of £1,600 being raised, (More monies, though raised in the Hospice collection boxes)  for St Wilfrids Hospice and Salthill cc..Andy also said he would like to thank all the people who gave up their time to make this event such a success for the 3rd year running, plans are already being made for the 4th open day in 2016
