French Film Festival 2018

The French Film Festival 2018, celebrating its 26th year, is the pre-eminent celebration of Francophone cinema in the UK involving more than 30 leading independent cinemas, Chichester Cinema at New Park delighted to host it again for 30 days with over 20 films. Twelve of these films are special premieres with one screening only, selections covering everything from contemporary, documentaries, a family film to three classic films starring Gerard Depardieu (Cyrano de Bergerac plus two other films), Brigit Bardot (The Truth) and Alain Delon (as a French Foreign Legion deserter in The Unvanquished). Don’t miss this wonderful assortment showcasing the range and unique style of French film-making. Comedy is a strong theme, films including Sink or Swim, Naked Normandy and Family is Family. Book now too for The Return of the Hero, a period comedy following a swindling swashbuckler who takes advantage of an aristocratic family; The Grand Ball, a documentary of the annual dance near Paris for over 2,000 from all walks of life; The House by the Sea, a family drama and To the Ends of the Earth, a powerful film of French colonial authority which is the Viet Minh All films will be presented in the original French versions with English subtitles.
